This section of The Crafty Tipster will feature free cross stitch designs including all-over background motifs, cross stitch alphabets and other designs. Cross stitch is a type of embroidery that is done on fabrics where the weave is more open and the individual threads can be easily seen. Old fashioned cross stitch was generally done on open weave fabrics but today’s cross stitchers can also use what is known as Aida cloth – a generally stiff cotton cloth designed to be stitched without the need of an embroidery hoop.
